Regarding the dogs in Puerto Morelos we stay not to far from Amar Inn I think they have 2 very big dogs and they bark and bark all the time and it bothers lot of people I do not understand how can the guest who stay there can put up with their Barking people who wish to stay at Amar Inn please inform your self before you go there unless the Barking won't bother you.
Another thing the people who have dogs roam the beach with them and let them do their business on the beach and they do not even pick it up some people have no respect for others hope it will change.People should write in and give their comments regarding the dogs in Puerto Morelos

I agree that dog barking can be annoying but it is common in built up areas in Mexico. Stray dogs can be rounded up, owned dogs...... ???

As for dogs fouling the beach, I too think it is disgusting especially if owners deliberately take their dogs onto the beach for that purpose and do not clean up. There ought to be signs at all beach entrances reminding dog owners of their responsibilities and obligations regarding fouling on the beach.
I suppose the final action would be to fine owners not meeting their responsibilities.

You are absolutely right Velo. and most of the dog owners here are responsible and clean up after their dogs. There will always be those irresponsible people and whenever most of us see it happening we have no qualms about telling the owners to clean it up.

We also live in P M during the winter but never stayed at AMAR INN but we hear the dogs barking when using the entrance to the beach next to AMAR INN . It is a disgrace to see the amount of pooo generated by their large dogs ( especially the big brown one ) on the beautiful pathway to the beach completed last year . It seems the dogs are well trained because it seems they nearly always do their damages on the other side of the property or on the beach itself without the owner or the staff of Amar Inn doing anything about the situation.........Surprisingly enough , signs were put up concerning littering on the pathway ( paper , bottles ect ) but nothing about dog pooo !

Regarding the dogs in Puerto Morelos where we stayed in front of our place there is people who own a dog the people seem to be gone on vacation they left their dog in the incloser of their home out side and this poor dog barks and barks from morning to about almost 6:30 in the morning and they have an alarm system that goes off every now and then people who live on the other street can hear the alarm I just wonder why some people have a dog as a pet someone from security came to make 2 reports regarding the dog and about the alarm system but they said that only the police of Cancun can look into the situation why do we have the police in Puerto Moreos for I do not understand why the police in Puerto Morelos can not do anything to keep the peace and like someone talked about the poop some people have no respect for others in any way we have meet many people and they have mentioned that they will not return here because they believe that no one will listed to what the tourist have to say they will most likely wake up when they notice that less tourist come to this once called A Sleepy Town of Puerto Morelos and they forget also that the tourist who come and spend the winter months spend a lot of cash here and some people will have less cash to by butter to but on their bread because some people do not care The tourist business is very importand for such a small town. Someone mentioned that we should put ear plugs what a silly way to think i agree that when someone who snors beside you ok but when you must put ear plugs because the dogs of Puerto Morelos keep you from getting a good night sleep ther is a Huge Problem and someone people should think differently about the dog situation.

It was me that mentioned earplugs in another post about dogs in PM. It was a tongue in cheek remark and not meant as a solution.
If the dog barking problem is coming from a specific residence surely a letter of complaint from a group of concerned residents could be sent to the occupier?
The same applies to dog fouling if the culprits are identified.

The local authorities are totally laid back on this subject and the town residents it seems are left to sort it out amongst each other. This is Mexico. There is always a downside to paradise. Thankfully in this case its only dogs
